SINGAPORE, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed down on Friday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.49 percent, or 17.41 points, to close at 3,529.82.
A total of 3.89 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.93 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.48 billion U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 284 to 180.
The STI index closed up 0.37 percent, or 13.24 points, to close at 3,547.23 Thursday.
