KABUL, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Two footballers were killed and three others injured as a roadside bomb struck a car in the western Farah province on Saturday, a local news agency Pajhwok reported Sunday.
The athletes, according to the news agency, were on their way to Anar Dara district to attend a football match, but a mine planted by insurgents struck the footballers car, killing two on the spot and wounding three others.
Taliban militants who are active in parts of the province and largely relying on suicide and roadside bombing are yet to claim responsibility for organizing the deadly roadside bombing.
