TALLINN, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Estonian President Kersti Kaljulaid on Wednesday said that Estonia attaches great importance to Estonia-China relationship and practical cooperation with China.
Kaljulaid made the remarks after Li Chao, the newly-posted Chinese ambassador, presented his credential at the Estonian presidential palace in the east of the capital city.
Kaljulaid welcomed the Chinese ambassador to Estonia and expressed her best wishes and sincere regards to the Chinese President Xi Jinping.
"Our relationship is developing smoothly in recent years. I am satisfied with the progress of our practical cooperation in different fields," said Kaljulaid.
She stressed that both countries should continue increasing high-level exchanges and enhancing practical cooperation in order to push forward bilateral relationship between Estonia and China.
The Chinese ambassador conveyed the warm greetings from the Chinese president. He spoke highly of social and economic achievements made by Estonia in the last two decades and congratulated the Estonian president on the successful Estonian Presidency of the Council of the EU and the Estonian centenary of independence.
He said that the friendly cooperation between the China and Estonia have developed in good momentum in recent years.
"Exchanges at different levels have increased and mutual trust has been deepened. Our practical cooperation in various fields have yielded many new results," said Li.
The Belt and Road Initiative and the Cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries have brought new vitality into the bilateral relationship, said the Chinese ambassador, expecting to further tap cooperation potentials, expand the scope of bilateral cooperation and promote people-to-people exchanges so as to bring China-Estonia relationship to a new level.
China and Estonia established diplomatic relations in 1991.
