TOKYO, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Wednesday morning as gains made on Wall Street's overnight rise gave way to concerns over U.S. trade policy.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 19.43 points, or 0.09 percent, from Tuesday to 21,272.86.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 2.34 points, or 0.14 percent, at 1,701.46.
Bank, chemical and machinery-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
