WASHINGTON, April 14 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday hailed the "perfectly executed strike" on Syria by three Western nations, tweeting "Mission Accomplished!"
Thanking France and Britain for joining in the attack with their "Fine Military," Trump said the attacks "could not have had a better result."
On Friday, the U.S. president ordered precise strikes against Syrian military facilities with Britain and France in a coordinated action. Though U.S. Defense Chief James Mattis said "right now, this is a one-time shot," he however did not rule out further attacks.
Trump had said earlier that he wanted to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria soon.
The trilateral operation, which came without any UN authorization or verifiable proof that the Syrian government had led a chemical weapon attack on a rebel-held suburb near Damascus on April 7, has been condemned by Syria, Russia and Iran.
