YANGON, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's Union Election Commission has set July 2 for submission of names of candidates to run in the by-election for vacant parliamentary seats scheduled for Nov. 3 this year.
According to a notification of the commission issued late Friday, the closing date for the submission is designated for July 11.
A total of 13 vacant parliamentary seats will be contested, including four with the House of Representative (Lower House), one with the House of Nationalities (Upper House) and eight with the state parliaments.
It will be the first parliamentary by-election after U Win Myint was elected as new president.
In the last general election on Nov. 8, 2015, the ruling National League for Democracy won an absolute majority of the parliamentary seats.
