TEHRAN, July 12 (Xinhua) -- Iran has criticized India for delays in the investments in developing project of the Chabahar Port, Financial Tribune daily reported on Thursday.
"It is unfortunate that Indian investment promises for the development of Chabahar Port and its connectivity projects have not been accomplished yet," said Iran's Deputy Ambassador and Charge d'Affaires to New Delhi, Masoud Rezvanian Rahaqi.
"India is expected to take immediate and necessary measures in this regard if its cooperation and engagement in Chabahar Port are of strategic nature," he was quoted as saying.
Rahaqi was speaking at a seminar here on the impact of challenges on Iran's ties with India.
In February, Iran and India signed agreements with focus on the development and utilization of Iran's strategic Chabahar Port.
According to the agreement, Iran awarded the operation of its southern port, Shahid Beheshti port, to India, a move that could enable India to dodge Pakistan and reach markets in Afghanistan, Central Asia and beyond.
Based on the deal, Iran agreed to grant the operational control of Shahid Beheshti in Chabahar port city to India for 18 months.
