MOSCOW, Aug. 2 (Xinhua) -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his South Korean counterpart Kang Kyung-wha on Thursday reaffirmed the importance of resolving issues on the Korean Peninsula "exclusively by political and diplomatic means."
Lavrov met Kang on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Singapore, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a press release.
The two diplomats discussed the prospects of intensifying trade and economic cooperation among Russia, South Korea and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Lavrov and Kang also discussed ways to strengthen practical ties between Moscow and Seoul, according to the Russian ministry.
The 51st ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting began on Thursday in Singapore.
