COLOMBO, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Joko Widodo Wednesday arrived in Sri Lanka for a two-day state visit, on the invitation of Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena, Sri Lankan foreign ministry said here in a statement.
President Widodo will be accorded a ceremonial welcome with guard of honor and 21-gun salute at Sri Lankan Presidential Secretariat on Wednesday night followed by bilateral discussions with Sri Lankan President Sirisena on a wide range of issues of mutual interest.
Several Memorandums of Understanding are to be inked between the two countries during the visit.
Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe will also hold discussions on economic, trade and investment cooperation with Widodo.
Sri Lanka and Indonesia established diplomatic relations 65 years ago, and have been maintaining cordial bilateral relations since then, the foreign ministry said.
In 2016, President Sirisena paid a state visit to Indonesia.
