JINAN, China, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) -- Former NBA star Stephen Marbury had 19 points and nine rebounds, but failed to stop Aolong from losing to Xinjiang 113-111 in the 35th round of the 2017-18 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Saturday evening.
As it might be Marbury's last season in CBA, Aolong played tight from the start and both sides tied 81-all into the last quarter.
Li Gen who made 25 points, scored a three pointer to help Xinjiang lead 113-111 with one and a half minutes left. Wael Arakji who scored 22 points, missed the last shot for Aolong with seconds left.
Darius Adams of Xinjiang had a game-high 39 points and 13 assists. Yang Jingmin had a team-high 25 points for Aolong, and Shavlik Randolph also added 19 points.
With three rounds of games remaining, Aolong ranked 12th with 16 wins, trailing behind Guangzhou and Shanghai, both with 18 wins. In order to make the playoffs, Aolong have to win their last three games and pray for neither Guangzhou nor Shanghai winning any of their last games.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Shandong beat Tongxi 132-103, Guangdong won over Fujian 121-113.
