KUWAIT CITY, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Kuwaiti Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah said on Thursday that Kuwait stands side by side with Egypt in its fight against terrorism.
The minister made the remarks during a meeting with visiting Egyptian Intelligence Agency Chief Abbas Kamel, the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry's Public Relations and Security Media Department said in a statement.
Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah underlined the depth of brotherly relations and joint cooperation between Kuwait and Egypt, the statement said.
Both sides share the same views and positions on all regional and international issues, the minister added.
The Egyptian intelligence chief lauded firm security relations between Egypt and Kuwait, pointing to Kuwait's regional and international role in fighting terrorism.
Egypt's army has been struggling to uproot the strongholds of militants, now belonging to the Islamic State branch in Sinai, since the ouster of the Islamist leader Mohamed Morsi, in response to mass protests against his rule in 2013.
