BEIJING, April 6 (Xinhua) -- More than 11 percent of the new cases in Beijing last year were filed with the help of the internet, said Beijing higher people's court on Friday.
To improve efficiency, all intermediate and lower level courts in the city allow Wechat filing. Five intermediate courts allow direct filing online, according to the court.
The online filings are mainly for first instance civil and commercial cases, intellectual property rights cases and enforcement cases.
In 2017, a total of 86,086 cases were filed directly online or with appointments of filing made online, accounting for 11.2 percent of new cases in the city.
Officials with the city's higher people's court said the court has a Wechat account, through which people can follow the trial process and complete procedures such as submitting materials and contacting judges.
