CARACAS, April 6 (Xinhua) -- Venezuela's Attorney-General Tarek William Saab announced Friday that a drug trafficking ring had been dismantled in the state of Anzoategui.

He announced in a statement that the ring had been busted in a raid on Thursday night in a joint operation with the anti-drugs command of the Bolivarian National Guard.

Six people were arrested, including the gang's two leaders. The operation seized drugs worth around 10 million U.S. dollars, including 147.4 kg of cocaine and 92.2 kg of marijuana.

The army also seized rifles, a hand grenade, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, five vehicles and three boats.

Saab vowed that he would not allow Venezuela to "sink" into drug trafficking and that he was leading a frontal attack on the "crimes of drug trafficking and corruption."

He reported that, in the last three months, the government had dismantled three drug trafficking rings, including one which operated from Venezuela to the Dominican Republic.
