DOHA, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Qatar strongly condemned a terror attack by the Islamic State (IS) that killed dozens of people in Afghanistan's capital Kabul, state-run Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported Monday.
Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed in a statement the country's firm position on rejecting violence and terrorism regardless of motives and reasons.
Qatar also sent its condolences to the families of the victims, the government and the people of Afghanistan, the statement added.
A suicide bomber blew himself up outside a voter registration center in Kabul, killing at least 57 and injuring dozens of others.
The IS later claimed responsibility for the attack.
Over the past few months, Afghanistan, especially Kabul, has witnessed waves of terror attacks by the IS and Taliban opposing the country's long-delayed parliamentary elections scheduled for October.
