KECSKEMET, Hungary, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Chloe Esposito of Australia won the women's individual gold medal at the UIPM 2018 Pentathlon World Cup III in Kecskemet, Hungary, on Saturday.

Esposito came 15th in the fencing, 2nd in the swimming and 14th in the riding, and came third in the final laser-run event. She scored a total of 1,339 points for the gold.

Esposito represented Australia at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She won the women's modern pentathlon gold, setting a new Olympic record.

The silver medal was given to Belarus' Anastasiya Prokopenko, who scored 1,335 points, just like Korean Kim Sunwoo who took the bronze medal.

Gulnaz Gubaydullina from Russia took fourth place. Sarolta Kovacs from Hungary, Annika Schleu from Germany, Tamara Alekszejev from Hungary and Laura Asadauskaite from Lithuania filled out the fifth to eighth places.

China's Zhong Xiuting came in 16th place with a score of 1269 points.

The tournament kicked off on May 3, with 76 athletes taking part in the women's individual tournament.

The competition continues on Sunday with the men's final. The mixed event will be on Monday.
