ADDIS ABABA, May 28 (Xinhua) -- A Landslide triggered by heavy rains in Ethiopia's Southern regional state has killed nine people, an Ethiopian official said on Monday.
Eyasu Afework, Chief Administrator of Dara Molo locality, Gamo Gofa Zone, Southern regional state, said 17 others were injured in the landslide which occurred on Sunday evening, reported state media Ethiopia News Agency.
He further said three homes were completely submerged by the landslide.
A landslide triggered by heavy rains on Saturday evening in Ethiopia's central Oromia regional state killed 23 people and injured six others, local media reported on Sunday.
Seasonal rains are arriving in Ethiopia as the onset of rainy season approaches, which occasionally causes landslides in some parts of the east African country. Enditem
