MANILA, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte will visit Israel next month, Israeli Ambassador to the Philippines Effie Ben Matityau said on Friday.
Matityau told reporters that Duterte's three-day official visit to Israel with start on Sept. 3.
"It is going to be the first visit of its kind of a sitting president of the Philippines," Matityau said.
Matityau said Duterte will meet Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin during the visit, aimed at bolstering political, security, people-to-people, and economic ties between the two countries.
Matityau said a large Philippine business delegation will accompany Duterte during the visit where many contracts will be signed in areas of technology transfer.
He added that Israeli companies are also eyeing joint ventures with Filipino counterparts, particularly in the manufacturing sector.
