YANGON, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- One person was killed and other one injured in car overturn on Myanmar's Yangon-Mandalay highway, said a release from the Information Ministry.
The accident occurred in Hlegu township in Yangon region on Monday.
A car travelling from Nay Pyi Taw to Yangon got a flat tire and overturned near milepost 14/3, killing the driver and injuring a female passenger at 7:50 a.m. local time.
Traffic accidents are frequent on Myanmar's busiest highway and reckless driving is mostly blamed for the accident, followed by over-speeding, severe weather, road damage and others.
The 587 km-long Yangon-Mandalay highway, connecting the country's commercial city of Yangon and second largest city of Mandalay was opened in December 2010 to reduce the travel time between the two cities.
