MEXICO CITY, Aug. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) on Monday named Ricardo Ferretti as interim coach of Mexico for upcoming friendlies against Uruguay and the United States, .
Brazilian-born Ferretti is expected to remain coach of Mexican top flight club Tigres UANL, where the 64-year-old has enjoyed a trophy-laden eight-year spell in charge.
"Our gratitude and recognition go to professor Ferretti for his disposition and commitment to the Mexican national side," the FMF said in a statement. "We thank Club Tigres for collaborating in this process."
Mexico have been searching for a new coach since Colombian Juan Carlos Osorio stood down after El Tri's last-16 elimination at this summer's World Cup in Russia.
Mexico will meet Uruguay in Houston on Sept. 7 and the United States in Nashville four days later. Enditem
