TOKYO, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Friday morning on renewed concerns over trade frictions between major economies.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 39.47 points, or 0.17 percent, from Thursday to 22,830.03.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 3.54 points, or 0.20 percent, at 1,735.60.
Iron and steel, bank, and nonferrous metal-linked issues comprised the morning's notable decliners.
