BERLIN, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Germany's Thomas Roehler won the men's javelin competition after a throw of 86.50 meters at the 77th edition of the International Stadium Festival (ISTAF) in Berlin's Olympic Stadium on Sunday.

"It is great to ensure a German triple victory. I won today and that was my goal. The range of my throw is of minor importance although 86.50 meters at this time of the season are not that bad," European and Olympic champion Roehler said.

Fellow compatriot Julian Weber finished second after setting the tone with a second attempt of 85.54m.

Germany's Andreas Hoffmann, who won the Diamond League in Zurich three days ago, took the third place with 85.09m.

The ISTAF in Berlin's Olympic Stadium is the biggest athletics meeting in the world and attracts annually 50.000 spectators as approximately 180 athletes from 40 countries and regions compete in 15 disciplines. Enditem
