TOKYO, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares opened lower Wednesday on the weak U.S. stocks overnight.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 56.11 points, or 0.25 percent, from Tuesday to 22,640.79.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 7.81 points, or 0.45 percent, to 1,710.43.
Decliners were led by marine transportation, real estate and air transportation issues.
