The target was set up based on the latest achievement of the Indonesian contingent in the late Asian Para Games held in Inchieon of South Korea in 2014, during which the Indonesian shuttlers got four gold medals, coach of the Indonesian badminton team for standing category Imam Kuntoro said.
"We target to secure golds from men double SL3-4, women double, men double upper 5, men single upper 5," the coach said adamantly.
To boost the skill of the athletes, he revealed that the players have undergone a training since January and carried out several friendly matches in Dubai, Thailand and Ireland.
"We have undergone training for nine months and for now our preparation has been well," he said in Solo of Central Java province.
One of the players for the standing category Suryo Nugroho disclosed that the intensity of the practice has been eased to once a day, as the competition has been imminent, from twice, in a bid to maintain the stamina.
Host Indonesia will send a total of 22 badminton players to the forthcoming Asian Para Games set to be held in the country's capital of Jakarta from October 6 to 13, the coach was quoted by Tempo media as saying.
The shuttlers comprise 16 athletes for standing category and six others for wheel chair category, he added.
