TOKYO, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Thursday as a rise in the 10-year U.S. Treasury yield sparked concerns of investment funds flowing out of emerging economies, with profit-taking also weighing on the market.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 135.34 points, or 0.56 percent, from Wednesday to close the day at 23,975.62.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 1.54 points, or 0.09 percent, to finish at 1,801.19.
Pharmaceutical, chemical, and consumer credit-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play.
