TAIPEI, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan's industrial production index rose 8.25 percent year-on-year to 116.38 in October, according to the island's economic affairs authority Friday.
The sub-index for the manufacturing sector, which accounted for more than 90 percent of the industrial production, climbed 9.24 percent year-on-year to 117.6 in October.
The production index for electronic components, the most heavily weighted within the manufacturing sector, gained 9.22 percent to 127.06.
In the first ten months, the industrial production index went up 4.3 percent year-on-year, with the manufacturing sub-index up 4.65 percent.
Meanwhile, Taiwan's wholesale revenue grew 7 percent year-on-year in October to 919.9 billion new Taiwan dollars (about 29.8 billion U.S. dollars).
Retail revenue edged up 0.9 percent to 371.5 billion new Taiwan dollars in October, while the catering sector fell 1.3 percent to 37.9 billion new Taiwan dollars.
