KABUL, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- An Afghan court imprisoned 21 suspects for smuggling drugs, a statement said on Tuesday.
"During Central Narcotics Tribunal's open sessions over the past seven days, up to 21 suspects involved in 15 drug-related cases have been sentenced from one year and six months to five years in jail," Counter-Narcotics Criminal Justice Task Force of Afghanistan (CJTF) said in the statement.
The Central Narcotics Tribunal (CNT) is a special Afghan court with jurisdiction of major drug cases.
The Counter-Narcotics Police of Afghanistan also seized 256 kg heroin, 31 kg morphine, 109 kg hashish and 1 kg methamphetamine from the suspects, the statement said.
