ACCRA, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Ghana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) has finalized preparations towards the 2019 Ghana rugby club championship (GRCC) to be held in Accra and Cape Coast later this month.
The 10-team club competition is played annually in two pools in the capital Accra and Cape Coast from Jan. 19 to March 2, 2019.
The President and Board Chairman of the GRFU Herbert Mensah said the club championship is a very important part of the overall development framework for rugby in Ghana.
"Unfortunately not every rugby player can represent the country at a national level, but rugby is played and loved by millions globally because of the passion for the sport and the enormous personal values that comes with it. The club championship and club structure is where it al happens," Mensah said.
The GRCC is expected to help to identify new talents for both the national senior and junior teams.
