RABAT, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- The Moroccan authorities have arrested a British-Swiss dual national over suspected links to the murder of two Scandinavian tourists in a mountainous area in central Morocco, local media reported on Saturday.

According to the Moroccan daily Assabah, the arrest was made on Thursday in the suspect's house in the city of Temara, near Rabat.

Investigations are underway to determine his connection with the killing of a Danish and a Norwegian women in mid December last year near the tourist village of Imlil, 60 kilometers away from the city of Marrakech.

The suspect is believed to have links to another Swiss-Spanish dual citizen who was brought on Jan. 3 before the investigating judge in charge of terrorism cases over the murdering of the two foreign tourists, the newspaper said.

He is also believed to hold an extremist ideology and have links with members of the Islamic State (IS), the same source added.

The Moroccan authorities have not released any official statement on this arrest.
