MAIMANA, Afghanistan, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- At least seven militants including a local commander have been killed and five others injured after government fighting aircraft targeted Taliban hideouts in Garziwan district of Afghanistan's northern Faryab province on Tuesday, said an army statement released Wednesday.
The airstrikes, according to the statement, were launched against Taliban fighters in Adam Qala area of Garziwan district Tuesday afternoon killing seven insurgents including commander Abu Talha on the spot and wounding five others.
Taliban militants have not commented.
