YANGON, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- M Ja Seng, Kachin ethnic national beauty contestant, won a crown for Miss Ethnic Myanmar 2019 which was held here in Myanmar's Yangon.
A gold crown with eight gems was presented to M Ja Seng, along with 15 million kyats (10,000 U.S. dollars) and she was selected to be an ambassador of Myanmar Ethnics Entrepreneurs Association (MEEA) to promote friendship and peace among ethnic nationals as well as traditional cultures of ethnic nationals.
"I will do what I am assigned to. And I also would like to reach out a hand to conflict-victims for peace process," M Ja Seng said at the beauty pageant late Tuesday.
According to the official release from the Miss Ethnic Myanmar, organizer of the beauty pageant, late Wednesday, Kayah ethnic representative Miss Ann Grace and Chin ethnic national Miss Sabrina lal Rem Ruat managed to grab first runner-up and second runner-up titles, respectively.
Some 40 beauty candidates from the country's states and regions took part in Tuesday Miss Ethnic Myanmar 2019 pageant.
The beauty pageant aims to promote cultural traditions of the country's ethnic groups as well as to boost travel businesses in Myanmar, a home for the 135 ethnic groups.
