KUALA LUMPUR, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's total population stands at 32.6 million by the end of 2018, official statistics showed Tuesday.
According to the report on demographic statistics from October to December 2018 released by Malaysian Statistics Department, Malaysia's total population rose 1.1 percent to 32.6 million in the fourth quarter last year as compared to 32.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2017.
Of the total population, 16.8 million were males and 15.8 million were females.
According to the report, a total of 127,400 live births were reported in the fourth quarter 2018, decreased by 2.5 percent as compared to 130,600 in the same period of 2017.
A total of 65,800 male babies and 61,600 female babies were born in the fourth quarter 2018. The average live births for the quarter stood at 42,500 per month.
Meanwhile, a total of 41,400 deaths were recorded in the quarter, decreased by 1.9 percent as compared to 42,100 in the fourth quarter 2017.
