YANGON, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar has planned to designate the full moon day of Tabodwe, an eleventh of Myanmar lunar calendar, as the Thanakha Day, the official Global New Light of Myanmar reported on Wednesday.

Thanakha is Myanmar's traditional yellowish-white cosmetic paste made from ground barks of Thanakha tree.

The Myanmar Thanakha Planters, Producers and Exporters Association decided to designate the full moon day of Tabodwe which will fall on Feb. 19 this year as Tabodwe is the month of the traditional festivals and the demand of Thanakha is high this month.

The designation of Thanakha Day aims to promote Myanmar's traditional cosmetic paste made from Thanakha trees.

Meanwhile, the second Thanakha Festival featuring variety of Thanakha-related products is being held at People's Square in Yangon since Tuesday.

Thanakha trees are grown in central part of Myanmar, abundantly in Magway and Sagaing regions and there are about 121,405 hectares of Thanakha trees across the country so far, the report said.

At present, the association is producing value-added products of Thanakha to enter the foreign market.
