COLOMBO, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka will face heavy rains and thundershowers in several districts of the island country on Friday, the Meteorology Department said in its latest weather update.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Eastern, North-Central, Northern and Uva provinces and in Matale district, in the south while showers or thundershowers may also occur in a few other districts after Friday afternoon.
"General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by the thundershowers," the Meteorology Department said.
In the Central Highlands of Nuwara Eliya, temperatures are expected to drop to 13 degrees centigrade while Katunayake, located in the outskirts of capital Colombo will face temperatures as high as 34 degrees centigrade.
