MACAO, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- Macao's average price of residential units was 108,427 patacas (about 13,413 U.S. dollars) per square meter of usable area in 2018, up 7.5 percent year-on-year, the special administrative region's statistic service said on Friday.
The latest report from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the average prices of those in Macao Peninsula (101,914 patacas or 12,607 dollars) and Coloane (135,527 patacas or 16,765 dollars) rose 11.1 percent and 5.7 percent respectively, whereas the price of those in Taipa (112,391 patacas or 13,903 dollars) dropped 2.4 percent.
The average prices of existing residential units (97,211 patacas or 12,025 dollars) and pre-sale residential units (142,663 patacas or 17,648 dollars) recorded respective growth of 7.5 percent and 3.7 percent year-on-year, the report added.
Total transaction value of residential units remained flat in 2018, at 69.43 billion patacas (about 8.59 billion dollars), with the value of pre-sale residential units (2,617) and existing residential units (8,205) amounting to 22.05 billion patacas (about 2.73 billion dollars) and 47.38 billion patacas (about 5.86 billion dollars) respectively.
In 2018, a total of 1,493 residential units were issued the construction permit and 52.4 percent of them were studio flats. Furthermore, 4,158 residential units were issued the licence of use, while 32.8 percent of them were studio flats and 25.3 percent were two-bedroom units.
