Macao helps train civil servants from Portuguese-speaking countries

MACAO, March 20 (Xinhua) -- The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) launched its training program for civil servants from tourism offices of six Portuguese-speaking countries, each with a duration of two weeks in Macao, the MGTO said on Wednesday.

The training program, starting from mid-March, was in cooperation with the Permanent Secretariat of Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries (Macao).

A total of 33 civil servants from tourism offices of six Portuguese-speaking countries will be trained.

The first group of nine participants are from Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and Sao Tome and Principe, while the second and third groups are to be trained in late May and early July respectively.

The training program includes internship at several MGTO departments, two days of themed workshops at the Institute for Tourism Studies, and other activities. Trainees will also join field trips to tourism infrastructures, historical and cultural heritage as well as other attractions in Macao.
