BERLIN, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Olympic taekwondo champion Wu Jingyu beat her Russian opponent 17-15 to win gold at German Open 2019. Tan Xueqin, Guo Qing and Guo Yunfei gave China three more gold medals after winning the titles of women's -46 kg, -49kg, -67kg.
It is the third international title Wu has won since she returned to the competition.
In July 2017, Wu gave birth to her daughter and resumed training half a year later. She won two world titles at Fujairah Open and WTF President's Cup. However, Wu sprained her ankle on March 8 and returend to training just three days before German Open.
Wu dominated her fights winning her first match 14-3 followed by a 22-8 victory. In the third fight, she beat Kazakh athlete 24-2 and advanced into the final after her rival withdrew from the bout due to injury.
