ISLAMABAD, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan felicitated his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on electoral victory in a telephonic conversation on Sunday, a Foreign Ministry statement said.
During the conversation, Khan expressed his desire that both the countries should work together for the betterment of their people.
"Reiterating his vision for peace, progress and prosperity in South Asia, the prime minister said he looked forward to working with Modi to advance these objectives," said the statement.
Earlier on May 23, Khan also congratulated Modi in a tweet, saying that he was looking forward to working with Modi for peace, progress and prosperity, to which the Indian prime minister responded that he has always given primacy to peace and development in the region.
