PARIS, June 1 (Xinhua) -- World No. 1 Naomi Osaka had her dream of winning the third straight Grand Slam title snapped by Katerina Siniakova of the Czech Republic 6-4, 6-2 in women's singles third round here on Saturday.
Osaka, in her first time being the top seed at a Grand Slam, had gone through the first two rounds with two comebacks, while failing this time in front of a more resolute Siniakova, who registered her first career victory over a top-ranked player.
The 42nd-ranked Czech will face either Russian qualifier Anna Blinkova or the 14th seed Madison Keys of the United States in round of 16.
Despite her elimination, Osaka is set to maintain the top ranking after the tournament, guaranteed by last challenger Karolina Pliskova's exit on Friday.
