MUMBAI, July 3 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed and 22 others missing when a small dam located at Chiplun in Ratnagiri district of India's western state of Maharashtra breached on Tuesday night.
Around six to seven villages were believed to be impacted with the flood-like situation, according to local media.
Around 12 houses were washed away after the dam got breached.
The National Disaster Response Force team is conducting the search and rescue operations.
The construction of the dam with a capacity of 2.4 million cubic meters was completed in 2012.
