TOKYO, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks were flat Tuesday morning as investors buying back issues on dips were matched by those selling on doubts over U.S.-Canada trade talks and concerns over new tariffs being slapped on Chinese imports by the United States.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged 10.30 points, or 0.05 percent lower, from Monday to 22,697.08.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, inched up 0.66 points, or 0.04 percent, to 1,720.97.
Pulp and paper, securities house and metal product issues comprised those that advanced, while air transportation, rubber product and mining issues were among those that declined the most by the morning break.
