HANOI, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Memorial services for late Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang were held in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and his hometown on Thursday morning, followed by the burial ceremony in northern Ninh Binh province in the afternoon.
The memorial service at the National Funeral Hall in Hanoi was attended by leaders and former leaders of Vietnam's party, state, top legislature and government, including General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong.
During the two-day national mourning on Wednesday and Thursday, a total of 1,658 Vietnamese and foreign delegations, including those from Cambodia, China, Cuba, Laos, Mozambique, Russia and South Korea paid homage to the late president at the three sites in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Ninh Binh.
Quang died last Friday after a long time of illness. In April 2016, Vietnam's top legislature elected him as the country's president.
