COLOMBO, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Four people were killed and 19 injured when a passenger bus crashed into an electronic transformer in Marawila in northwestern Sri Lanka on Monday, police said.
The bus had been travelling from capital Colombo to Vavuniya in the north when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the transformer.
According to initial investigations, the driver had been speeding, police said.
Rescue workers took hours to recover the bodies and pull the injured passengers out of the wreckage of the bus.
The injured were rushed to the state-run Chilaw Hospital.
Police are conducting further investigations.
