BELGRADE, May 23 (Xinhua) -- The Netherlands overcame South Korea 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-18) here on Thursday to mark their first victory in the Week 1 of the FIVB Volleyball Nations League.
The two teams met in the third round of the competition at the Aleksandar Nikolic hall, after both of them suffered consecutive defeats in past two days from Serbia and Turkey.
The Netherlands took full advantage of the opponents' errors to win the first set.
In the second set, South Korea managed to slow down their opponents with somewhat stronger defense and blocks, but the Netherlands played precisely and aggressively in key moments, managing to break off at 21-21.
The teams engaged in an uncertain third set, in which the Netherlands broke the deadlock at 17-17 and went on to seal the win.
The Netherlands will play the next game at home against Brazil on May 29, while South Korea will face Thailand in China.
The finals of the competition will take place in July in Nanjing, China.
