WINDHOEK, Jan.15 (Xinhua) -- Namibia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are exploring ways to enhance cooperation in the oil and gas sector, the Namibia Presidency said in a statement on Tuesday.
The move follows Namibian President Hage Geingob's successful visit to the UAE which concluded on Monday, the statement said.
Geingob attended the Zayed Sustainability Prize Award Ceremony and opening ceremony of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, at the invitation of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi.
According to the statement, Geingob and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed also held bilateral talks.
During their talks, the Crown Prince expressed interest in exploring oil and gas in Namibia, it said.
Namibia and the UAE already have a successful cooperation in the Al-Dahra Namibia project, a commercial date plantation established at Naute Dam in the Karas region in 2009.
